Invest-NL is the National Promotional Institution (NPI) of the Netherlands, established in 2020 with the overarching mission to foster a more sustainable and innovative Dutch economy. As a state-owned investment company, its core function is to address market gaps by providing financing to companies and projects that face challenges in securing capital from traditional financial markets. Invest-NL strategically focuses its investments on accelerating the energy transition, promoting a circular economy, developing sustainable food systems, and supporting other innovative industries that contribute to solving societal and environmental challenges.

The institution offers a diverse array of financing solutions, including equity investments, loans, and guarantees. For equity investments, Invest-NL typically commits between €1 million and €50 million, targeting growth-stage companies that demonstrate a clear path to positive societal impact. Furthermore, it provides loans that can range from €1 million up to €100 million, specifically for projects and enterprises that align with its sustainability and innovation mandates. This flexible approach allows Invest-NL to support a broad spectrum of initiatives, from early-stage ventures to large-scale infrastructure projects.

Invest-NL operates with a strong emphasis on collaboration, frequently co-investing alongside private investors and commercial banks. This strategy is designed to de-risk investments and catalyze additional private capital into critical sectors, thereby maximizing its overall impact on the Dutch economy. Since its inception, Invest-NL has made substantial commitments, having deployed over €1.5 billion into various initiatives by the end of 2022. In 2022 alone, the institution committed €620 million to new investments, underscoring its active and significant role in driving the Netherlands' green and innovative future.
