The Federal Holding and Investment Company (SFPI-FPIM) serves as the sovereign wealth fund of Belgium, wholly owned by the Belgian State. The entity's substantial financial capacity is evidenced by its assets under management, which stood at approximately €17.5 billion (around $18.9 billion USD) as of 2022. This significant capital base allows SFPI-FPIM to engage in diverse investment activities, ranging from venture capital to strategic participations in larger enterprises, all aimed at strengthening the Belgian economic fabric.

To execute its investment mandate, SFPI-FPIM operates through specialized funds and direct strategic investments. Its "Growth & Transition Fund" typically provides equity and quasi-equity financing, with investment tickets generally ranging from €1 million to €15 million, supporting the expansion and transformation of established Belgian companies. Concurrently, the "Life Sciences & Deep Tech Fund" focuses on innovative early to mid-stage companies, offering financing from €500,000 to €5 million to accelerate research, development, and commercialization in these high-potential fields. Through these targeted approaches, SFPI-FPIM plays a pivotal role in nurturing promising ventures and ensuring Belgium's continued economic prosperity.
